For Penguin Tours you are required to wear enclosed and comfortable shoes without prominent heels. As the tour is entirely outdoors, we recommend warm comfortable clothing and during the cooler months you are advised to bring a weather proof jacket. 
Please note that the tours will go ahead even if the weather is inclement. 
Photography with mobile phones (no flash) is permitted.

Tour operates in all weather conditions and tours will only be cancelled in weather conditions such as extreme winds. We will postpone tours at our own discretion with the safety of our patrons in mind.

Enjoy a unique&nbsp;and exciting opportunity to see Little Blue Penguins (Fairy Penguins) in their natural habitat at dusk. Upon arriving at the rookery&nbsp;on Tasmania&#39;s beautiful east coast, you will have the chance to be a part&nbsp;of their evening journey home!

Once you are checked in by the friendly team&nbsp;at the central Bicheno base, a short bus ride will take you to the private penguin rookery. The penguin rookery has been established over 30 years through rehabilitating farmland back to penguin-friendly habitat to help protect and restore the local penguin population.&nbsp;

 
Explore the rookery with a knowledgeable guide as they teach you some interesting facts about penguins and steps we can all take to improve the life of these little birds. As night falls, witness the penguins make their daily march home,&nbsp;from&nbsp;emerging from the ocean to entering their burrows to settle in for the evening.&nbsp;

Different times of the year will provide different experiences as it transitions from peak to off-peak season.

&nbsp;

During the off-peak season, from around late March&nbsp;to August,&nbsp; the penguins are looking to maintain their burrows, build better nests &amp; take a rest from the continual stress of being in the ocean. Typically a quieter time of year for penguins and guests alike, it can provide a great opportunity for a more personal experience to spend time wherever they feel is most relaxed with great viewing.

During the peak season, typically September to March, the penguins have a busy little life with the breeding season kicking off in September, and it isn&#39;t long until we see baby penguins. Dad penguins are busy building burrows up to their family&#39;s expectations and it isn&#39;t long until moulting starts.

&nbsp;

Any time you visit, however, provides a truly memorable sight to see these little creatures in the wild!
