Cancellation by the traveller 

<ul>
	<li>If you cancel some or all portions of your booking cancellation fees will apply. A cancellation will only be effective when we receive written confirmation of the cancellation.</li>
	<li>If you cancel a trip: 
	30 days or more prior to departure, we will retain 20%&nbsp; 
	between 15 and 29 days prior to departure, we will retain 50% of the total booking cost 
	14 days or less prior to departure, we will retain 100% paid by you in connection with the booking.</li>
	<li>Note that different cancellation conditions apply to some trips and additional services. Your booking consultant will advise if differences apply. Please note that for certain travel arrangements the cancellation charge may be higher than those shown. In certain cases, a 100% cancellation fee applies as soon as the booking is made and the ticket is issued. You will be advised of different cancellation charges at time of booking.</li>
	<li>You are strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance at the time of booking which will cover cancellation fees.</li>
	<li>If you leave a trip for any reason after it has commenced we are not obliged to make any refunds for unused services. If you fail to join a tour, join it after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund will be made.</li>
	<li>The above cancellation fees are in addition to fees which may be levied by accommodation providers, travel agents or third party tour and transport operator fees.</li>

Cancellation by us

<ul>
	<li>We may cancel a trip at any time up to 30 days before departure. We may cancel a trip at any time prior to departure if, due to terrorism, natural disasters, political instability or other external events it is not viable for us to operate the planned itinerary. If we cancel your trip, you can transfer amounts paid to an alternate departure date or alternatively receive a full refund.</li>
	<li>In circumstances where the cancellation is due to external events outside our reasonable control refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs. We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking including but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance excess or non-refundable flights.</li>
	<li>Please note that different cancellation conditions may apply to some styles of trips; your booking consultant will advise if differences apply.</li>
</ul>

Booking amendments

<ul>
	<li>If you wish to transfer from one trip to another or transfer your booking to a third party you must notify us at least 56 days prior to the proposed departure date. A fee of $200 per person per change will apply (in addition to any charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines).</li>
	<li>If you notify us less than 56 days prior to the proposed departure date the refund policy applicable to cancellations will apply. Transfers to a third party are only permitted where the transferee meets all the requirements in relation to the trip, and transfers to another departure can only be made to a departure within the current validity period.</li>
	<li>Amendments to any other arrangements made in conjunction with your trip will incur a $130 administration fee per booking per change. This fee is in addition to any charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines. No amendments are permitted to your booking within 10 days of departure.&nbsp;</li>

Spot wildlife around enchanting Lake Argyle, explore the soaring walls of Windjana Gorge, hike along narrow paths at Echidna Chasm and cool off in crystal-clear watering holes beneath cavernous gorges. The Outback is a truly magnetic place and this 4Wd adventure sees you experience it in all its rugged beauty. 
 
Itinerary: 
 
Day 1: Darwin to the Katherine Region (lunch, dinner) 
Welcome to the tropical city of Darwin, where your overland adventure begins. After meeting up with your group and leader, head south and stop at either Edith Falls for a swim or explore Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. This is where the group will have lunch (seasonal choice). 
 
Later, head to your overnight private campsite on the edge of Nitmiluk National Park, where permanent tents with swags await you. In the evening, settle down for dinner with the group. 
 
Total driving time today is around four hours. Total walking distance is approximately two kilometres. 
 
Day 2: Lake Argyle&nbsp;(breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
After breakfast this morning, continue on to Lake Argyle, which has been created by the Ord River Dam. Admire the sheer size of this 700 square kilometres man-made spectacle. The lake is home to many species of native fish and thousands of freshwater crocodiles. 
 
Tonight, take an optional sunset cruise on Lake Argyle ($40). Then, set&nbsp;up camp nearby for the night. 
 
Total driving time today is around seven hours.&nbsp; 
 
Day 3: Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle Ranges) (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
Start the morning with some free time for a stroll around the picturesque town of Kununurra. Don&rsquo;t forget to use this time to stock up on any last minute supplies before heading out into the remote Kimberley region. 
 
Once out of town its time for some 4WD action as your experienced guide winds the specially designed truck across the challenging terrain. Get your hearts pumping before you reach&nbsp;the entrance to Purnululu National Park, home of the iconic Bungle Bungles. It&rsquo;s a rugged ride but the scenery is fantastic. 
 
Later, enjoy an amazing Kimberley sunset at your bush camp.

Day 4: The Bungle Bungles (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
After breakfast,&nbsp;prepare for a full day of activities, as the group heads back out to explore the remarkable rock formations of the Bungle Bungles. Hike to the thin, red gap of Echidna Chasm and the enormous Cathedral Gorge. There&rsquo;s also the opportunity to experience a helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles (at your own expense,&nbsp;from $350). As the sun goes down, head back to your overnight bush camp.

Day 5: Bungle Bungles and El Questro (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
After breakfast today, get back on the road toward El Questro Station. Admire the remarkable scenery of the Carr Boyd and Durack Ranges, and head along the vast nature trail of Warnum (Turkey Creek). 
 
In the late afternoon, head to your campsite in El Questro, a wilderness park since 1991 for dinner and a cool drink at the Swinging Arm Bar. 
 
Total driving time today is around three hours. Total walking distance is approximately six kilometres. 
 
Day 6: El Questro Station (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
Spend the day exploring El Questro. Start off with a dip at Zebedee Springs before taking on a hike in the Cockburn Ranges for a swim under the waterfall at Emma Gorge. 
 
Tonight, enjoy another night at the El Questro campsite. 
 
Total driving time today is around 45 minutes. Total walking distance is up to seven kilometres. 
 
Day 7: Gibb River Road and Mount Barnett (breakfasts, lunch, dinner) 
After breakfast, its time to hit the road again and start travelling along the legendary Gibb River Road, a 600 kilometre dirt track running through the centre of the Kimberley. 
 
Spend the afternoon exploring the stunning Manning Gorge. The waterfall here is wide and powerful, and there&rsquo;s a large deep pool. You can swim right up and under the falls. This is the ideal opportunity to take some great pictures of local wildlife, so be sure to have your camera ready. 
 
This evening, camp at Mount Barnett by the banks of a crystal clear freshwater river, perfect to cool off in after your day hiking.

Day 8: Windjana Gorge (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
The western Kimberley region is full of endless stunning gorges just waiting to be&nbsp;explored and this morning is no exception. After breakfast, continue along the Gibb River Road visiting either Galvin or Adcock Gorge before adventuring to Bell Gorge &ndash; a hidden highlight.&nbsp; 
 
This idyllic retreat, considered amongst the most beautiful gorge on the Gibb River Road, boasts cascading waterfalls and crystal clear pools filled with water from the wet season rains that fall in the King Leopold Ranges. Surrounded by a horseshoe of bright orange rock wall, there are smooth rocks to lounge on and welcome areas of shade. 
 
The afternoon sees you head to Windjana Gorge, a segment of 375 million-year-old reef that was once underwater. Cut through by the Lennard River, which runs during the wet season then breaks up into little billabongs during the dry, this gorge attracts many species of bird and bat and is a great spot to see wild freshwater crocodiles. 
 
Total driving time today is around 2.5 hours. Total walking distance is approximately four to six kilometres. 
 
Day 9: Tunnel Creek and Broome (breakfast, lunch, dinner) 
Begin the day exploring the Napier Range. The major attraction here is Tunnel Creek, an extensive limestone cave system that extends 750 metres underground. Inside, shards of sunlight stream in through crevices, little bats flutter about and enormous stalactites rear down from the ceiling. In the late 1800s, an indigenous man called Jandamarra waged a one-man uprising against European settlers, becoming a hero to his people. You&rsquo;ll hear a bit about his legacy during a tour through Tunnel Creek, then make the final drive on to Broome, hopefully arriving in time for a stunning Cable Beach sunset.

Day 10: Broome sights tour and beach day (breakfast, lunch) 
Go out on a high and fall in love with Broome on a city sights tour, learning about the rich history of the area in the pearling industry. Take the truck onto the beach for a picnic day this afternoon, and enjoy some beach cricket.

	<li>To get the most out of this trip you need to be prepared for walks of between 3-9 km on some days. This may be on rough ground and perhaps getting feet wet in rivers and creeks</li>
	<li>Passengers with special dietary requirements or food allergies MUST ensure they or their travel agent inform Intrepid/ATA at the time of booking. Food for the trip is purchased prior to the start of the trip and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing Darwin. If you have not notified us prior to departure, you may be asked to pay for any additional food yourself. Due to the nature of our trips, food is basic but plentiful. We provide the below substitutes, please bring your own staples if you require specific foods not listed below:
