Frequently Asked Questions

Is this trip right for me?

This trip is new to our range this year. And while we have thoroughly researched every detail of the logistics, new destinations and working with new partners can sometimes throw us some unexpected surprises. More often than not, it’ll be a great surprise. But every now and again there might be a hiccup. We like to think that’s what puts the ‘adventure’ in ‘adventure travel’.

East Arnhem Land remains the same rugged wilderness that the Yolngu people’s ancestors walked, so some remote areas have only basic facilities and limited communication links to the outside world.

The Yolngu people’s culture and history are incredibly important to them, and they want to share it with the outside world. To be part of this is a privilege and requires sensitivity and patience towards guides and staff.

The minimum age for the East Arnhem Land Adventure is 15 years.

Generally speaking, we recommend you pack as lightly as possible and make sure that you are able to carry and lift your own luggage, and walk with it for short distances or up or down a flight of stairs. Our travellers usually find the smaller their luggage is, the more they enjoy the trip not having to worry about carrying heavy bags! Aim to keep your main luggage under 15kg. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water, a camera, and jacket etc. when you’re exploring during the day.

Personal items might include reef-safe sunscreen, insect repellant, insect bite cream/antihistamine, painkillers, toiletries, antibacterial gel/wipes, a small first-aid kit, and personal medication.

Other items should include a camera, water bottle, hat, sunglasses, jacket, thongs, walking shoes, swimmers, beach towel, umbrella, and comfortable clothing.

Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied. We cater for vegetarian and gluten intolerance – please advise at time of booking so that arrangements can be made.

During this trip, you'll travel by a combination of private vehicle and speedboat.

All travellers need to be in good physical health in order to participate fully on this trip. When selecting your trip please make sure you have read through the itinerary carefully and assess your ability to manage and enjoy our style of travel. Please note that if in the opinion of our group leader or local guide any traveller is unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group, we reserve the right to exclude them from all or part of a trip without refund.

The physical rating on this trip is 2 out of 5. This means there are some easy physical activities included in your trip. No physical preparation is required to make the most of the journey.
