The Site comprises various areas, some of which allow independent access, others which may require assisted access, and unfortunately, some with restricted access.

&nbsp;

The introductory walking tour and harbour cruise are both wheelchair accessible. However, several of the optional tours are unfortunately NOT recommended for visitors with mobility restrictions. Please check with staff.

Wheelchairs and strollers are available for loan from the Visitor Centre. The courtesy buggies provide a regular drop-off and pick-up service around the Site for visitors with limited mobility. Please enquire on arrival for times of operation.

Take a step back in time to a wild world full of convicts and criminals on this day trip to the famous Port Arthur Historic Site.&nbsp;It&#39;s&nbsp;a special place of vivid history, cultural heritage and stories so compelling you&#39;ll want to hear them again and again. It&#39;s also one of the 11 places that make up the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Australian Convict Sites.&nbsp;

Your experience includes return transfers from Hobart, departing from Franklin Wharf at 8:00 am for a 9:30 am arrival at the historic site. This means you&#39;ll have 6 hrs to explore at your own pace.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Port Arthur is a large outdoor site spanning over 40 hectares (100 acres) with over 30 buildings and ruins to explore. While most know it as a prison, it was much more than that &ndash; it was a complete community, home to convicts, military and civilian officers and their families. The convicts worked at many industries producing goods and services for use locally and to be sold in Hobart and beyond.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Your site ticket gives you&nbsp;entry to the Port Arthur Gallery,&nbsp;a guided introductory walking tour, a&nbsp;20-minute boat cruise, and&nbsp;access to more than 30 historic buildings, ruins, restored houses, heritage gardens and walking trails.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

There is also a cafe on-site for you to purchase lunch (not included). Enjoy&nbsp;freshly brewed coffee and sweet treats, thirst-quenching cold drinks, beers, wines and spirits, and fresh, delicious food, all made in-house using local ingredients.

&nbsp;

In the afternoon, the bus departs for the journey back to Hobart at 4:45 pm, arriving in the city at 6:30 pm.&nbsp;
