How many beds in each dorm room?
Across the tour we use dorm rooms which have 4, 6 or 8 beds in each room. You can choose female only or mixed dorm rooms.
What should I bring?
What should I bring?
Comfortable shoes to walk in, warm clothes for the mountains, light clothes for the beach, a rain jacket or umbrella, a towel and bathroom items (soap, shampoo etc). You do not need to bring a sleeping bag, sheets and blankets are provided.
How does the food work?
How does the food work?
Each day on tour you have the opportunity to get food from the supermarket or from cafes and restaurants. All of our hostel accommodation has kitchen facilities on site and there are options to eat out if you prefer. If you have very specific dietary needs it is advisable to get specialised items before the tour begins in Hobart or Launceston as regional areas can have limited options.
How much luggage can I bring?
How much luggage can I bring?
As our Lap of Tassie and Best of Tasmania tours start and finish in the same place, we’d appreciate it if you can minimise luggage by leaving some of it in your hostel/hotel in Hobart or Launceston, bringing only those things you need for the tour. Most hostels and hotels in Tasmania offer storage facilities. Please limit the luggage you bring on tour to one backpack or suitcase (maximum 20kg) and one day pack or handbag per person.
Is there wifi?
Is there wifi?
Much of Tasmania is wilderness - this is why so many people want to visit! In most national parks and world heritage areas there is no mobile phone signal and no wifi.
However many towns across Tasmania have free public wifi, including Strahan, Sheffield, Queenstown, Launceston, Port Arthur, Bicheno & Hobart. Some accommodation also has wifi.
If you cannot be out of contact for more than a few hours, we recommend you purchase a sim for your cell or mobile phone through Telstra or Optus.
