Beachy Bliss

Cairns beach shorefront

The Cairns region has some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia! Popular spots like Trinity Beach, Palm Cove and Ellis Beach are great for relaxing, swimming and soaking up the glorious sun. These beaches all have soft sand, clear water and stunning views all perfect for a day by the sea.

There’s so much to do at the beach and anything with a board – such as kite-surfing, paddle-boarding, wind-surfing and similar – is a great way to have fun in the sun. There are plenty of operators offering boarding sessions and lessons, so you’ll be a pro in no time.

In fact, there are more water activities in Cairns than you could ever do during a normal visit! Regardless of whether you want to try some snorkelling for beginners or tear around in a jet boat, you’ll find a fun adventure for every age group or taste.

A Quiet Month

As locals are still recovering from the Cairns Festival and other events from earlier months, October is more quiet than others. There’s always something happening though, such as the Shine On Gimuy Indigenous art exhibition, as well as multiple smaller events that add to Cairns’ vibrant atmosphere. Our Things to do in Cairns page lists a few boredom busters.
