What to expect from Uluru in October

Uluru at sunrise

If you’re visiting Uluru in October, you can expect warmer temperatures ranging from 15°c to 32°c – a pretty comfortable climate for most activities. Between exploring the region’s beautiful natural wonders, this month gives you a great opportunity to look into Aboriginal culture, learn traditional techniques and create your own meaningful artwork inspired by the awesome scenery.

Connect with Anangu and Their Culture

Uluru Art Workshop

Aboriginal cultural experiences and workshops include storytelling sessions by Aboriginal elders, lessons by local artists and more. These help you to understand Anangu’s culture by learning all about Tjukurpa, their traditional practices and their spiritual connection to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. These experiences are a fun, highly fulfilling and educational way to learn from the locals.

Dot painting is one traditional Aboriginal art form that uses intricate patterns of dots to depict history, stories, landscapes and cultural symbols. You too can create your own meaningful artwork by joining a dot painting workshop and learning directly from local Anangu artists, who share their knowledge, techniques and the spiritual meanings behind each design.

You’ll not only get the chance to create your own unique dot painting, but you’ll also gain a deeper appreciation for this intricate Aboriginal artistry, which takes a great deal of skill to perfect. If you’re not an artist at heart, there are many more workshops that include everything from bush tucker tours to boomerang and spear-throwing demonstrations and much more.

To learn so much more about the Aboriginal culture and deepen your connection to the land and its traditional custodians, there are immersive tours like Patji - A True Aboriginal Experience. Here, you’ll visit the traditional Uluru Family homelands of Patji and spend a day with the locals, learning about their history and personal stories.

Enjoy the Warmer Weather
