What to expect from K'gari (Fraser Island) in June

fraser-island-tour-2

K'gari in June is so good for outdoor adventures, with average temperatures ranging from 16°c to 22°c and minimal rainfall. It’s not too hot, not too cold and everything’s thriving, making it perfect for exploring the island’s gorgeous landscapes and enjoying its phenomenal natural beauty.

Camping on K'gari

The weather is cool and dry during June in K’gari, giving you the most comfortable conditions for setting up camp and getting out to explore. There are plenty of nice camping spots to choose from and you’ll get a unique experience out of each of them.

Beach camping along 75 Mile Beach is always a winner. This beautiful coastline is such a good setting for campers, as you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves and awaken to stunning sunrises.

Beach camping areas like Dundubara and Waddy Point (beachfront) have all the amenities you need, like toilets, showers and picnic tables, so they’re convenient for families and groups too.

If you’re after a more secluded experience, the inland camping sites near the island’s freshwater lakes are perfect. With crystal-clear waters and white sandy shores, Lake McKenzie is a must-visit and camping nearby means you can jump in for a refreshing swim whenever you like.

Lake Boomanjin and Lake Wabby also offer tranquil settings surrounded by lush foliage so you’ll have a truly peaceful camping experience.

Explore this Island Paradise

While you’re camping, you’ll get plenty of opportunity to explore K'gari’s amazingly-diverse landscapes. The island’s rainforests – such as the glorious Central Station – feature shaded trails and the chance to see the flora and fauna that’s unique to this paradise.

The sand dunes and lakes are stunning vistas – especially during sunrise and sunset – and you’ll get some excellent photo opportunities here. Eli Creek is another great hangout, perfect for a leisurely float along its clear water or a walk along its boardwalk.
