New Zealand in January is a total paradise if you love the outdoors. It’s the absolute perfect time to explore the country’s stunning natural landscapes, like the stunning Coromandel Peninsula. This must-visit destination is a serene haven of pristine beaches, lush forests and crystal-clear waters.

If you want to relax but also experience a bit of adventure, Coromandel’s sailing tours are the perfect way to experience the beauty of this NZ gem.

A Sailor’s Paradise

The Coromandel Peninsula is famous for its spectacular coastline and there’s no better way to experience it than from the sea. The calm seas, warm weather and sunny skies during January in New Zealand give you superb conditions for a day out on the water.

It doesn’t matter whether you’d prefer a morning sail or want to watch the sun set over this glorious tract of land, there are Coromandel sailing tours that cater to all your preferences. As you glide through the clear, turquoise water, you’ll see breathtaking vistas of rugged cliffs, secluded coves and lush greenery.

Most tours include stops at iconic spots like Cathedral Cove, where you can explore the famous sea cave or take a dip in the refreshing, crystal-clear water. The nearby marine reserves are also great for snorkelling, with a huge amount of marine life just below the surface.

One of the best things about sailing in Coromandel and spending time in New Zealand in general is the chance to unwind while surrounded by nature’s beauty. Many tours run at a leisurely pace, letting you soak up the sun on deck, enjoy a picnic on a remote beach or simply relax with the sound of the waves as your backdrop.

If you’re looking for a bit of NZ magic, you can take a tour that includes creating your very own geothermal water bath at Hot Water Beach. There’s truly nothing like it and this activity is excellent for bragging about your adventures in social media posts too!

Celebrate Summer in Style

If you’ll be visiting New Zealand in January, Coromandel and its quaint nearby towns will open you up to a world of natural beauty and laid-back charm. You can sunbathe on stunning beaches, hike through lush rainforests or just explore the nearby towns and meet some friendly locals. Visit our Things To Do in New Zealand page for more.

Queenstown - Bungy Jumping

There is a big debate about where is best to do a bungy jump in New Zealand. I figured where else to start for a bungy novice than the Worlds First Commercial Jump Site. At only 43m high it's one of the smaller jumps (also ideal for a beginner to the sport!) but AJ Hackett […]

Waiheke Island Weekend - Around Waiheke Tours

One of the best features of Auckland is just how easy it is to get out of the city to stunning natural surroundings, and possibly the easiest place to get to is beautiful Waiheke Island.  It's a journey well worth making for tourists and city dwellers alike.  The island is just a short 35 minute […]

Mountain Biking in Woodhill Forest - Auckland

I brought my friend Alan, who “A” knows how to mountain bike and “B” knows the Woodhill Forest, along to join me for this little cycle adventure. And I want to call this blog “Alan showed me the world of mountain biking with all its ups and downs” – in the truest sense of the […]

On the top of the world - The sky walk

The sky tower is one of Auckland’s big landmarks, “big” in the truest sense of the word. From the ground to the top of the mast measures 328 metres (1,076 ft). That is 4 metres higher than the total size of the Eiffel tower in Paris and only 53 metres smaller than the Empire State […]

Why Black Water Rafting is the COOLEST thing you'll do in New Zealand

I came to Waitomo to experience a thrilling adventure tour in the stunning glowworm caves everyone told me about. The  Legendary Blackwater Rafting Co offers a range of different tours. You can select if you want to get wet or not, if you want to do some abseiling or just tubing. Whatever you choose, a […]

Mission Bay Watersports - Stand up paddle board

The weather was a little cloudy during the day but as soon as I jumped off the bus in Mission Bay, I felt the warm rays of sun, caressing my face. The closeness to the ocean made me feel happy immediately. I made my way along the beach searching for Mission Bay Waterports. After I walked around […]
