New Zealand in October is a perfect destination if you're seeking a thrill, with a huge number of exhilarating activities available in beautiful springtime landscapes. The warmer temperatures and calm winds mean it’s a great time to dive into some of New Zealand’s most popular experiences, from skydiving over gorgeous vistas to exploring glow-worm caves.

Get That Adventurous Glow

October is an excellent month for you to take the leap into one of New Zealand’s most iconic activities – skydiving. Whether you’re in Queenstown, Taupo or the Bay of Islands, you’ll find skydiving experiences that’ll not only give you the rush of freefalling from thousands of feet in the sky, but also beautiful aerial views over New Zealand’s spectacular landscapes.

Imagine jumping out of a plane with the snow-capped Southern Alps beneath you, or the sparkling waters of Lake Taupo stretching out to the horizon. The clear spring skies of October really enhance visibility, making the experience even more amazing.

New Zealand is well known for its beautiful aerial perspectives – think colourful forests, rugged, snow-capped mountains and crystal clear lakes, but skydiving isn’t for everyone. If you are seeking a different thrill, the glow-worm caves around New Zealand offer another beautiful experience.

The village of Waitomo is famous for its many fascinating cave systems. October's warm, calm weather makes it a great time to explore these caves on a guided tour, where you can go on a boat ride under a ceiling of sparkling glow-worms, creating a starlit night underground.

If walking or sailing through these caves isn’t exciting enough, you can try out blackwater rafting, where you can navigate the underground rivers on an inner tube. The combination of darkness, water and the shine of thousands of glow-worms create a truly magical experience unlike anything else.

Adrenaline Experiences Galore

October in New Zealand isn’t just about skydiving and glowworms. The country is a total hub of adrenaline experiences with everything from bungee jumping and zip-lining to jet boating and canyoning. Queenstown is just an example of pure beauty. I was swept away by it as soon as we landed.
