The cruise across Milford Sound lasts for 2 hours in total. This will give you plenty of time to observe the many incredible landmarks around the area, spot the Sound’s diverse marine life, and snap some incredible photos. 

A reasonable level of fitness is required for this walk. The track has a 50 metre vertical gain and the walking pace is set at around 3km per hour. Certain areas are also rocky or rough underfoot, and wet weather conditions can occasionally make things more challenging.

You’ll want to make sure you’re wearing comfortable walking shoes and suitable outdoor clothing for this tour. If it’s a wet day, we also recommend packing a change of dry clothes and shoes to change into after the walk. 

A packed lunch and a bag containing a warm top, waterproof jacket, warm hat, gloves, insect repellent, and snacks are also essential. Last but not least, you’ll want to bring your camera to capture the scenery and a filled water bottle​ to stay hydrated! 

This tour is generally suitable for children over the age of 8. Due to the nature and duration of the walk and cruise, children younger than 8 are unable to participate in this tour for their own safety and comfort.
