Do I need sailing experience?
No. Some guests have never sailed before, some have never even been on a boat before. The Operator can control the experience using the sails so will look after you well. If you prefer a real sailing adventure, then come on board when the wind is up and enjoy sailing without salt sea spray or nosiy outboard motors.
What is the weather like on Lake Taupo?
What is the weather like on Lake Taupo?
On the lake, Mother Nature ensures that every trip is different. Each season of the year brings different conditions. Sometimes the sailing is easy, sometimes it rains, sometimes there is not enough wind to use the sails and The Operator uses their quiet, eco-friendly electric engine. But which ever way it happens it always works out great.
Will I get wet during this Lake Taupo sailing experience?
Will I get wet during this Lake Taupo sailing experience?
There's always a possibility that a rain shower might arrive. The Operator suggests you bring a shower-proof jacket. However, there is custom-made, fleece-lined, water-proof ponchos available for use on board, and there is always the option of going below decks in the cabin for a while. If heavy rain is forecast the tour will unlikely sail. Sometimes there's a shower of (fresh water) spray when sailing along. It can be quite a lot of fun!
Do I need to be able to swim?
Do I need to be able to swim?
No, but it is good if you tell The Operator you can't swim. The Operator might ask you to wear a life vest while on deck during sailing.
