Got a spare 48 hours in Airlie Beach? Here's how to spend it!

So your Airlie Beach flights and accom are booked…now what?

It’s time to schedule some fun in the North Queensland sun and what better way to do it than with this Airlie Beach itinerary curated just for you!

Perfectly located in the heart of the iconic Whitsundays, the coastal town of Airlie Beach has long been a popular holiday destination…and not just for young and rambunctious backpackers!

Considered a convenient gateway for those wanting to explore the incredible marine parks that surround the region, Airlie Beach is a place worth taking your time to explore ????

Day 1 - Morning

The grass is greener in Airlie

Although famous for its beautiful beaches, Airlie Beach and surrounds are also home to some of Queensland’s most beautiful golfing greens - including Proserpine Golf Club, Whitsunday Green, Bowen Golf Club and Collinsville Golf Course.

However it’s the famous Hamilton Island Golf Club where you should dedicate a morning in the north Queensland sunshine.

This 18 hole championship course is said to be one of the most challenging in the world, yet despite this, the course is considered a ‘must do’ for both novice and professional golfers, catering for all experience levels.

Literally located on its own island, Hamilton Island Golf Club comes complete with spectacular views of the surrounding Whitsunday Islands and Coral Sea, with the contemporary Clubhouse the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal after your morning on the green!

For more info and to request a tee time, visit: www.hamiltonislandgolfclub.com.au/en

Day 1 - Afternoon

‘Catch’ up over a local favourite

Ask Airlie locals where to find some good quality seafood and they’ll point you in the direction of Fish D’Vine.

Proud to call this corner of the world home, Fish D’Vine is locally owned and plates up authentic, local produce in a charming, laid back atmosphere…that’s also award-winning!

Open from 11am 7 days a week, one look at Fish D’Vine’s menu will have you wanting to go back for seconds, with their Famous Seafood Platter – A Feast for Two including an abundance of the freshest hot and cold local seafood, such as bugs, local wild prawns, South Australian oysters, Tasmanian Salmon gravadlax, ocean scallops, crispy battered local fish, with chips, salad, and sauces…YUM!

The food at Fish D’Vine is also complimented by their unique and passionate twist on the drink of sailors and the spirit of the sugar cane fields at the in-house Rum Bar - so cheers to that.

You can find them at : 12 Airlie Esplanade, Airlie Beach

Day 1 - Evening

When the sun goes down…

Renowned for its nightlife, Airlie Beach has often been referred to as the party capital of Queensland, with the best bars, clubs and pubs all generally located around the same strip - so why not take yourself on a little bar crawl?

Make your first stop at Boaty’s Airlie Beach (336 Shute Harbour Rd)

- located right at the top of the main street next to the roundabout.

An institution for locals since the eighty’s, Boaty’s is a guaranteed good time, with a huge open-air deck and delicious (and affordable) food and drink selection to prepare for your night on the town!

Next stop, Paddy’s Shenanigans Irish Bar - and as the name suggests…you’re in for an experience.

As one of the leading live-music venues in north Queensland, Paddy’s packs a punch with not just the music buffs, but all who come for a visit.

Check Paddy’s out at: 352 Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach

Ready for a boogie?

Boom Nightclub doesn’t open until later in the evening but is a party-goes paradise!

From the pumping music to electric atmosphere, Boom is renowned for its house DJ’s, Thursday hospo nights, crazy dance floor and being open ‘till the wee hours of the morning.

Then again; what more do you expect from Airlie Beach’s premier nightclub?

Visit Boom at: Level 1/352 Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach

Day 2 - Morning

Jump into Day 2!

Dive into the most exhilarating experience Airlie has on offer with a tandem skydive!

For those who can drag themselves out of bed early enough, when you book a 5:30am or 6am skydive you’ll also score FREE return transfers from your accommodation!

Not quite convinced it’s worth taking the plunge for? For those new to skydiving, there’s the option to jump from 8,500ft or 15,000ft with your ticket also including a beautiful scenic flight over Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands.

Soak up the spectacular views of North Queensland, The Whitsundays and the ocean alongside professional instruction and training from your experienced crew…you’ll also receive a certificate of your skydive to commemorate your day!

Book HERE now!

Day 2 - Afternoon

Hop over to Hamilton

Located a short ferry ride from Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island provides the ultimate lunch-location.

So where should you go?

If you’re looking for a quality dining experience, you’ll find a selection of restaurants, including the much-loved Pebble Beach at qualia and the more relaxed Manta Ray.

Thirsty?

Whether you’re looking for somewhere lowkey to enjoy a few drinks after exploring the Great Barrier Reef, or a sophisticated bar with beautiful views out over the Whitsundays, Hamilton Island gives you plenty of choice.

We recommend checking out One Tree Hill (Whitsunday Blvd, Hamilton Island)  for some cocktails and a cheeky cheese platter - I mean…holidays are for indulging a little, right?

Day 2 - Evening

Savour an Airlie sunset

Pack yourself a picnic and head on down to the Airlie Beach foreshore to take in an unforgettable sunset.

Sunset times vary throughout the year, but a quick Google search will let you know roughly when the magic happens.

Want to end your day on an even sweater note?

La Gelateria is one of the region’s best gelato spots, conveniently located at  The Boathouse, Shop F9, Port Dr, Airlie Beach.

Alternatively, score a scoop (or two…or three) from the ICONIC Whitsundae Gelato and Dessert Bar, serving up homemade delicious gelato and desserts including delicious new flavours all the time!

Talk about the cherry on top of your Airlie Beach…cake.
