In addition to seafood, the Port Douglas region is known for its exotic fruits and vegetables. The tropical climate and fertile soil make it the perfect place to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables that are not commonly found in other parts of the world. Visitors can try fruits like mangosteen, jackfruit and even durian, which are not readily available elsewhere. 

Open every Sunday from 8am, the Port Douglas Markets attract some of the region’s best producers of this fresh produce, so be sure to stop by to try it for yourself!

A notable thing to mention about the Port Douglas food scene is the region’s focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness. Many of the restaurants in the area source their ingredients from local farmers and fishermen who practise sustainable farming and fishing methods. This means that the food is not only fresh and flavorful but also environmentally friendly.

In 2023, the Taste Port Douglas Food and Drink Festival will return from August 10 to August 13, attracting foodies from far and wide.
